Giclée Prints / Pigment Prints
Often referred to as either giclée prints, pigment prints or archvial inkjet prints this method combines the use of water based pigment inks and high quality papers, as well as expertise within digital reproduction to produce prints on paper that are fully archival up to 200 years (under the correct conditions).
We utilise 44" and 64" 10 colour Epson SC-P10000 and SC-P20000 printers and Epson Ultrachrome PRO inks that produce incredible tonal graduations and are capable of a wide colour gamut. We can print up to 1600mm wide by almost any length.
This type of printing is a fantastic means of reproduction for all types of artwork including photography, paintings, illustration and design. This process can also be used to print onto other types of media including clear film, banners and various types of display media.
Paper
We stock a range of high quality fine art papers from Hahnemühle and St Cuthberts Mill:
- Hahnemühle Photo Rag
- Hahnemühle Photo Rag Pearl
- Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth
- Hahnemühle Museum Etching
- Hahnemühle German Etching
- Somerset Photo Satin
- Somerset Enhanced Velvet
- Somerset Enhanced Satin
Each of the above papers are avaible in different weights and thicknesses.
We are able to advise which paper will best suit an artwork. From matte and textured velvet papers to glossy photo papers, there is a right choice for any artwork.
Proofing
We will often produce a strip-proof prior to a full scale proof or an edition.
This stage is important to confirm colours, fidelity, paper choice and to manage expectations of the printing process. We have made custom ICC profiles for each of our papers for controlled colour management.
When incorporating silkscreen printing over digital prints, a full-scale proof will always be made.
For reproductions of original artworks it is strongly recommend that we organise capturing the image with a professional input device. Simply put, outstanding giclée prints require an outstanding original file.
SENDING FILES
File formats, resolution and colour profiles can often be confusing, if you have any questions we are more than happy to guide you on how best to deliver an artwork for digital reproduction.
We can facilitate for an artwork to be scanned or photographed with a professional input device.
PACKING & SHIPPING
We understand the packaging legislation for various carriers, so we ensure our standards for both UK and international shipments go far beyond the requirements.
Limited editions are usually crated in tri-wall first and then packed into a wooden crate.
For larger works we will often use a trusted art handler to crate and ship the artwork.
